It has not snowed in two days. It got sunny and mild today so I
took a walk. This winter's storm damage is localized to only a few
areas. Those received heavy snow loads followed by high winds. There
are a variety of failure modes. All of the ferns are crushed flat to

from here. If there is any haze in the sky it is almost invisible. In
the summer you need to know which bit of white is a mountain top, which

Bear berries have been ripening for the last two weeks. I was
expecting a few grouse. Being ready does not prepare you for when they
flush. I have never understood why they flee, I can't see them until
they move. Later in the week I was greeted by a few Steller's Jays.

It has been dropping into the 40s each night this week. I almost
started a fire in the woodstove. But, by noon it was back to 70 again.
I collected a lot of dry, bucked up wood and got my exercise. Ten more
truck loads and I'll be started. While I was complaining to the
