If you have the K2/100, remove the KI6WX mod - without the KPA100, it makes no difference. Make certain the SSB FL1 filter is set to OP1. Check the position of the OP1 filter passband with Spectrogram  . The low frequency 'knee' of the passband should be close to 300 Hz. If you are wondering

How is your SSB FL1 filter passband aligned? The position of the passband will make a big difference in how the K2 sounds on the air. The procedure in the manual will get the filters close, but may not be optimum for your K2. For best results use Spectrogram and position the passband between
