What’s
What’s the rated output power of the K3s’ speaker amp?
Cheers.

Post:
My K3s has been in service for several years. Power output has always easily
reached roughly 100 watts.
Now, with:
1. ATU TUNE bypassed
2. Good 50 ohm dummy load
3. W1 in line with the load
4. SWR 1:1
Next:
1. With the PWR control set to show 100 watts on the LCD
Does anyone know if when using the KX3VB:TEST mode for 630m if the PWR
adjustment control is really active? I was transmitting a carrier on 475 KHz
and adjustment of the PWR control from min to max did not seem to produce any
change in output power level as seen on a O-scope?
This leads me
I just received my K3s back from service (IMD updated TX boards). There is no
output power on 20M from 14.180-14.220. All other bands and the rest of the
20M band appears to be ok (regardless of mode selected).
Is there a setting that I missed? What would cause this odd behavior. I hope
Been in discussions with Elecraft regarding my K3S (110900 and its
performance at 472-is kHz.
My measurements surprised me a bit...I was expecting a bit more output but
my particular K3S will output barely 285 uW (when power set to nominal 1.0
mw) and a max of about .45 mw with power control set
Hi,
I just notice that my k3s with the latest firmware transmits only about 60W
on 160W.
I made just a couple of qsos on 160, but I am more than sure that the ouput
power was OK at about 100-110W.
I just made tx power calibration, did not help.
On all other bands the max power is 110W.
I do
On all bands even into dummy load
Not in TEST
TX INH OFF
In TUNE main display "-" and "0 W"
Other rig works fine into same antennas/dummy load with normal SWR
indicated.
Anybody been there done that?

Yes, I've tested it a long time ago.
It worked OK. Think I used SDR#.

Bob,
The K3 and K3S have an internal 15-kHz (nominal) 2nd IF that goes to the DSP.
But this is not a quadrature signal like in the KX3, and it also follows the
crystal filter, so it is very narrow band.

Far as I can tell, there is no 15KHz output from the K3S that can be used
for experimenting with SDR. Is that correct? Thanks, Bob W3DK

Bob,
No 15 kHz output, but better for SDR experimenting, use the IF output at
8.215 MHz. That gives you a output that is prior to any IF filters in
the K3S.
If you want baseband I/Q outputs, you can connect a softrock receiver or
LPpan2 to that IF output.

Not to hijack this thread, but has anyone used the IF out of a K3(s) w/
a Funcube Dongle Pro+?
