It sure does a job on 20 SSB here. But it's
interesting to watch the band come and go (at one
point I worried that my K3 RX sensitivity had
died, but it sure came back!). Then I set the K3
and KX3 with panadapters up on different antennas.
Interesting to watch to differences in the

The ARRL DX phone contest is eating 20m. Let’s not fight it. No SSB net this
Sunday. We’ll be back on March 15.

Soon there will be a contest every Sunday, Phil.
It almost seems that way now, with all the W1AW
commemorative action!

Just a thought ... perhaps you should consider having an alternate
frequency on one of the WARC bands for major SSB contest weekends (e.g.
somewhere on 17m).

Due to the phone contest on this weekend, operating on 20M will be a challenge.
It was today. I considered 17 M, but I spent time on that band with SOTA
today, and it was not good. Enjoy the spring weather (I hope). It reached the
70's here today for the first time this year. See you next

Hi Rick,
Probably because my station isn't as capable on 17M. Whereas on 20M I have a
rotatable quad at 75', on 17M I only have a random wire. I fear that will make
it hard for some to hear me. Hope to improve things this summer.

Actually, being net control with a beam probably would be challenging from the
midwest. However, from where I sit in western Oregon, pointing my quad (whose
pattern is a bit broad) due east gives me good coverage from southern Canada
across the US to at least TX and NM. AZ and southern CA

I figured it must be cancelled. I was planning to check-in (have not
done so for awhile).
When I tuned to 14.303.5 there were two very strong stations sitting
on 14.304 (S9+20 on my K3) and their sidebands extended well beyond
+/- 3KHz making it difficult to look for the net. I narrowed down

Get out and do FD. While you are at it, look for my 1B Battery (QRP) class

The weekly Elecraft SSB net will not meet this week, since FD will be in
full swing Sunday. I will operate NS7P as a 1B entry using my K2 to wire
antennas hung from tall Douglas Firs. Hope to work some of you on FD. Get
out there if you can. The net will return next week.

Hi gang,
The weekly Elecraft SSB net would normally meet today (Sunday, 3/8/09) at
1800Z. However, the band is filled with the DX contest. Let's skip this week
and avoid the frustration of trying to copy each other through the QRM. See
you next week at the usual time and place. Thank you.
