I use a 50 year old Shure 444D, I did make an adapter from the K3 to the 1/4
phono plug on the Shure. Works FB not to mention it matches the K3 pretty well.

I have not but you certainly can do it. The length of the tube will determine
the peak resonant frequency and you would have to experiment with the length to
tune it to the pitch you like best to listen to.

I have been using that Powerwerx power supply since before Elecraft started

The 12AT7 sounds familiar in that multivibrator circuit. Was it built from a

When I moved from Houston and house with beams to a Florida apartment but with
a big tree outside my door, I ordered the KAT3A. The KAT3 made easy work of my

Yes, I have a manual tuner and yes I have an LDG 200Pro auto-tuner but the
KAT3A was a huge convenience.
I have had the Comet analyzer for a year. Although a bit pricey for the number
of functions, what it does, it does very well and is a very solid, well built,
and easy to use device. With that said, I will add a VNA unit to my arsenal of
analyzers soon.
It sure would not hurt my feeling to see

I finally figured it out ... I was making a few Qs but the received signals
were so so weak ... I made sure ATT was off, had preamp on, checked antennas,
plugs, switches, etc and I had written it off that the bands were just really
bad. Then I saw it ... some how I had pushed in the RX ANT
As an avid caver (ham radio got me into caving 50 years ago ... another story)
here are a couple of links to what hams have done underground. The big
drawbacks are cost and hauling the gear. Currently a group is investigating
using the family radios for digipeating.
Suddenly my K3, upon touching the key will power off. When I power on, I can
make a contact or two and then off again. This started with three hours to go
in FD (operating 1D at home). Checking the archives it seemed it was a thermal
problem so I partially disassembled the radio, cleaned out
Check INRAD on the Vibroplex web page. They have the adapter, very well

Hi!It must be something simple I am missing but for some reason, I cannot get
the K3 to transmit RTTY from MMTTY only on 30 meters. I have checked all
settings but nothing. It is fine on 160 - 6 meters (just checked) but on 30,
nothing. If I unplug the cables from the computer and use the keyer
heck to ensure that the 30M Data Mode is also
FSK-RTTY. I think that’s a ‘by band’ configuration.
Just an idea ...
