About the dock item usage, we must take into consideration that at the
moment only developers who already are used to using Launchpad have tried
daily builds and they may prefer to report them directly. Dock item usage
could raise once we release the beta. Anyhow, I'm personally neither
We intentionally do not translate that launcher because bug reports
are expected to be in English. We won't be able to process reports in
other languages.

A superb idea. There's no need to include menus where none are needed,
especially for simple applications like Eidete. I do think that the context
menus in the dock can be pruned as well. There's no need for window

@Dan, it makes sense to separate the two for two reason:
1. If I wanna start Files with root privileges or Midori in a private
session is quite handy to have them in the quicklist, it's acutally what
it's there for. It's a lot of useless user interaction to start the

I don't disagree with your 1st point. I really dislike the dual .desktop
thing Midori is currently doing and having root shortcuts is probably a
good work-around while we don't implement policy kit (which is probably the
proper way to do it.)

I really don't like the idea of adding app-related things in Switchboard.
It should only be for system settings IMO.
But you're right, it's not for users. It's mainly for developers, support
techs, testers, translators, etc.

Andrea,
The dockitem is the app, as far as I'm concerned. If the user wants to
know more about that app, they can right-click the app and click about. I
think it's a great place to put this relatively universal item since it
doesn't have anything to do with the screen the user is looking at, but
I don't think Abouts should exist. But aside from that, I think Cassidy is
right when he says The dockitem *is* the app.

Cody,
I think we want (and need) them to exist for a variety of reasons. First of
all, there are potential legal requirements for the licenses that we have
to display. Second, we need a place for version numbers for support people
and developers. And lastly, it provides information about the app

I that's more about how Slingshot works as a launcher than the
implementation method. In this case, Slingshot should be aware of QuickList
items (such as Midori's Private mode). I don't think having two .desktops
is the proper way to get the desired result.
Personally, I don't care about how ours
