It works quite fine, but I still want to add some changes, like trigger
a notify-reboot after installing. I tried to do it by calling
/usr/share/update-notifier/notify-reboot-required from postinst script,
but didn't work. Can someone help me with it?

I don't think there's a (easy) reliable method of detecting what
session you are inside. But it's worth seeing if it can be done.
In Ubuntu checking XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP environment variable is sufficient.

I'm sure integrating cronopete will bring up questions like what do we do when
a external storage is connected.
For now, you might want to bug Joey Sneddon from OMG! Since Cronopete should
also be working
