Re: [Elementary-dev-community] Multi-Display Support

2013-06-30 Thread Cassidy James
The one thing that stands out is the each-display-is-a-workspace thing,
which I swear someone brought up long ago. ;)

But yeah, I think that's a better way of attacking it than having the whole
"canvas" of displays being one workspace (as we do now).

I must be missing something, but I've used that stuff on Linux for years
and never had artificial problems like fullscreen blacking out other
screens. The only flaw has always been a varying level of UI polish.

I don't think it's a bad idea (at least not if it were implemented well),
but I do think it would take a substantial development effort... too much
effort for such a tertiary feature.

Re: [Elementary-dev-community] Multi-Display Support

2013-06-28 Thread Michael Lazarski
Hey,

normaly iam just reading this but this time i need to add my 2 cents:

I think we should introduce "scenarios".

What i mean with that:

A Dual Monitor setup is not a Single Setup.

There is a Difference if i connect my laptop with a second screen or if i
connect 2 desktop screens !

A Scenario could be like this: Laptop screen: a working setup where i swich
workspaces because 1 is chat 1 is browser 1 something BUT on the connected
desktop screen iam looking a movie and i want to see it all the time.

this is just one example there are more !

I think independent workspaces on each monitor is actually terrible. super
confusing.
