Thanks Sergey, I'm sure it'll be possible to do with After Effects.

So the second problem is still unsolved. Can anyone help me solve the lag
issue with my graphics card? Thanks!

Cassidy, ouch that sucks. I've been too spoiled by tablets and phones
and just kind of assumed that elements would size as well.

Okay, we have to improvise. When I was making the first Luna video four
months ago, I asked the people on metafilter how the Google videos are
made. You can see it here: http://bit.ly/Z0lrxj

One person kindly took a screenshot of the video and overlayed it on
top of the screenshot of a real display: http://imgur.com/QoNrg and
concluded that the video is indeed made with photoshop/after effects
 instead of recording.

I went back and re watched the video (and many others) a few times and
noted that during the parts where things are zoomed in, there are very
little animations. As you can see here:
http://youtu.be/kcOUWjkGBUY?t=38s, it's mostly made of very simple UI
with a hovering cursor and a key press. I think we can do the same thing
here, since we have so many great designers.

Anyway, I already have an idea of how things would go in the video.
Hopefully, I can get this recording thing to work and make a quick draft. I
think it's going to be a killer video!

You can disable your drivers using jockey-gtk, it should already be
installed, just put that in a Terminal and it will launch.

Then try configuring the monitor as well as xrandr -q again.

The resolution of those might be really high, but the interface elements

Okay, will do that tomorrow. But I have something school work that I must

Cassidy, worst case scenario, we'll get you to do the recordings and I'll
just put them together ha!

Just out of curiousity, does anyone here have Macbook Pro, Thunderbolt
display, or a 4k TV? If you do, we must get you to do the recording!
Because with any one of those, we can zoom in two or three times without
getting fuzzy images.

According to xrandr, your second display does not exist.

You can disable your drivers using jockey-gtk, it should already be
installed, just put that in a Terminal and it will launch.

Then try configuring the monitor as well as xrandr -q again.

Re: [Elementary-dev-community] TV Display Not Detected

2013-02-27 Thread Cassidy James
Hrm. I have a Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook with Intel graphics and the HDMI
works alongside my laptop's display. :-/

Any clue if this same issue exists in Ubuntu?

I know the UX of that Ubuntu Displays plug can be confusing... And this
sounds like a "duh" thing but I overlooked it all the time: is the little
"mirror" check box on the right checked? If so, uncheck that. ;)

2013-02-27 Thread Cody Garver
Uninstall your proprietary drivers and see what happens, at least
regarding the lag. I have a little experience with xrandr and dual
monitors, what does this output when your tv is plugged in?:

xrandr -q

This is a very strange case if your tv is HDMI and not working automatically.

Re: [Elementary-dev-community] TV Display Not Detected

2013-02-27 Thread piggy classy
Also, when I start the recording, my computer suddenly becomes really slow,
with lots of stuttering and slow animations, despite being a fairly
well-rounded computer with core i7 and 6GB ram.

For my earlier video that I made a few months ago, I recorded with a very
old, $200 computer I bought from Ebay, and everything was as smooth as
butter. I'm not sure what's going on.
