I suppose it couldn't hurt to try again. It would be a
coincidence if the fvwm developers were running fglrx, and I'm not at
all sure that it is an fvwm problem, given that icewm (mis)behaves the
same way.
I'll report back if I make any progress.

Well, windows in icewm also leave behind a trail of ghosts when they are
moved, so it may be an X problem, rather than an fvwm one. Wolfy, can
