Another question, I am a student , I think it is a big problem that how to
exchange you article with your teacher, because the teacher will comment or
revise your article once again and again.

However, Many teachers will not use emacs to write articles and also the pdf
file is not so convenient to do some modification, how will you deal with the
problem ?

The following buffer

--8<---cut here---start->8---
* Headline
  :PROPERTIES:

--8<---cut here---end--->8---

exports as

--8<---cut here---start->8---

2015-06-09 Thread Subhan Michael Tindall
Have you investigated clocktables?
Type in the following & hit C-c C-c with point on the 'BEGIN' line somewhere to
update.
This one produces a month summary by agenda file
#+BEGIN: clocktable :block thismonth :narrow 30 :tcolumns 6 :maxlevel 1 :step
day :fileskip0 :timestamp :scope agenda :link t
#+END:

This followed by a little re search & replace macro to combine the blocks
should just about the job for you

Assumes each project is a file in org-agenda-files, but can easily be modified
to do a single file, or tag or set of tags at a time if that is how you define
your projects
Formatting options:

[O] CUSTOM_ID doesn't work for HTML export on Org trunk

2015-06-09 Thread Oleh Krehel

Hi all,

I don't know if this has been raised before, but it seems not to be
fixed yet. Currently, in HTML export, instead of #custom_id I'm getting
e.g. #orgheadline10.

The commit that broke this was 2 months ago:
160820bc9498e9364103e72b55a27cf92576dbb8 still works fine.

Let me know if this is bug that needs to be fixed, or maybe CUSTOM_ID
was replaced with something.

[O] bad interaction between yasnippet and org-mode

2015-06-09 Thread Mark Edgington
I have a yas snippet that looks like the following:

*  $1   :sometag:
$0

When I try to expand this snippet (on an empty line) in an org-mode
buffer, there seems to be a bad interaction happening between org-mode
and yasnippet, such that when entering in text at the $1 location,
typing something like "abc" results in "a b c " being inserted (spaces
get interspersed).

This behavior does not happen if there is no tag at the end of the
headline, or if the $1 is replaced with $0 (so yas mode is exited
after expanding the snippet).

I'm using yas 0.8.0beta (latest git), and Org-mode 8.3beta
(release_8.3beta-1206-g2f0bcc)

Is there a way to work around or fix this?

According to http://ergoemacs.org/emacs/elisp_universal_argument.html
the universal argument corresponds to an argument '(4). So you could
try:

#+begin_src emacs-lisp
(global-set-key
 (kbd "")
 (lambda ()
   (interactive)
   (org-tree-to-indirect-buffer '(4
#+end_src

The buffer name is set by the function `org-get-indirect-buffer'.
You could try to change the name after calling the function … for
instance by doing
#+begin_src emacs-lisp
(rename-buffer (org-get-heading) t)
#+end_src
(the t at the end makes sure the name is unique), but for this to work
you need to go to the buffer that was just created, and I don't know how
to do that.

I'm in academia and I use org (also not to its full potential). Some
great tips were already given, let me add a couple.

I try to keep notes for every paper that I read. I have found org-ref to
be really useful to keep the links between the notes and the papers
(https://github.com/jkitchin/org-ref).

If you write many letters (for instance recommendation letters), you
might be interested in koma export.

Finally, I have found that one of the biggest pitfalls (for me) in
working in academia is to spend all my time dealing with urgent, but not
necessarily important, things. Following the procrastination matrix (see
http://waitbutwhy.com/2015/03/procrastination-matrix.html for an
entertaining description), I use a "@Q2" tag for things that are
important and not urgent, and I reserve some time to work on them. The
ones I'm currently working on are scheduled, and they are shown in my
custom agenda view using this:

#+begin_src emacs-lisp
("q" "Q2 tasks"
 ((agenda
   ""
   ((org-agenda-overriding-header "Q2 Scheduled")
(org-agenda-skip-function '(org-agenda-skip-entry-if 'notregexp ":@Q2:"
  (tags-todo
   "@Q2/!-HOLD-WAITING"
   ((org-agenda-overriding-header "Q2")
(org-agenda-todo-ignore-deadlines t)
(org-agenda-todo-ignore-scheduled t)
#+end_src

Best,

Alan

Thanks for the suggestion. However, I use ratpoison as my window
manager and, by default, all of my emacs frames are full
screen. Essentially, I use emacs as a window manager given that I spend
all of my time in Emacs... :) I have one emacs frame on each monitor (3
of them) and up to 4 windows in each frame depending on what I am doing.

How about using several frames? For instance I have the following code
bound globally in my OS:

#+begin_src sh
/usr/local/bin/emacsclient -n -e '(make-orgcapture-frame)'
#+end_src

The function is defined as follows (with some supporting code to delete
the frame when I'm done):

#+begin_src emacs-lisp
(defun make-orgcapture-frame ()
"Create a new frame and run org-capture."
  (interactive)
  (make-frame '((name . "remember") (width . 80) (height . 16)
(top . 400) (left . 300)
(font .
"-*-Consolas-normal-normal-normal-*-13-*-*-*-m-0-iso10646-1")
))
  (select-frame-by-name "remember")
  (delete-other-windows)
  (flet ((switch-to-buffer-other-window (buf) (switch-to-buffer buf)))
(org-capture nil "t")))

;; delete the frame in that case
(add-hook 'org-capture-after-finalize-hook
  (lambda ()
(when (equal
   (cdr (assoc 'name (frame-parameters (selected-frame
   "remember")
  (delete-frame
#+end_src

Thanks Robert, I am aware of Bernt Hansen's setup, and have included
some of it in my setup. But I'm still searching for that elusive
month-end table display!

[O] org-tree-to-indirect-buffer - naming and prefix in define keyboard key

2015-06-09 Thread Rainer M Krug
Hi

I just discovered the function ~org-tree-to-indirect-buffer~ and really
love it as I have a large org file (nearly 10 000 lines, R code,
analysis, simulation, ...) and this makes navigating and editing much
easier.

While writing this, I discovered the C-u prefix to keep the last opened
indirect buffer open.

But I still have two question:

1) How can I map the command C-u M-x ~org-tree-to-indirect-buffer~ to a
keyboard shortcut?

2) Can I change the naming of the indirect buffer? To prefix the .org
buffer name makes sense, but is cluttering my tabbar (yes - I still use
it) - so I would prefer to simply use the name of the subtree.

Thanks,

Rainer

You're right: it does not take up the full frame with -Q. Strange: I
cannot find anything in my configuration that would change this
behaviour. I don't set display-buffer-alist and it is nil. I don't use
any of the other packages you and Thierry have mentioned.

I'll keep looking!

Thanks for your input.

Thanks for the clarification. Is there a technical or security reason
for this? because especially for export, file local variables would make
sense to avoid the #+BIND keywords?

something along the line of "Link to non-existent local file "..." in
the description part" would make clear that it is ion the description of
a link.

And if the non-existent link is in the link part, the other could be
"Link to non-existent local file "..." in the link part"

Cheers,

Some work was done wrt sorting in agenda during 8.3 development.

Could you try this version and report if any issue is still to be
resolved? If there is any, could you report it and, possibly, as you
apparently looked into the code carefully, name the missing text
properties?

Thank you.

I don't think there's any guarantee that all local file keywords
definitions are observed during export (e.g., most of the export process
happens in temporary buffers), hence #+BIND keywords.

One solution would be to split fontification of raw keywords and blocks
OTOH and blocks that can contain Org data OTOH, as suggested by Kaushal
(, Cc'ed).

Link fontification would happen after the latter, but before the former.

Anyway, after 8.3 release (or maybe 8.4 depending on the bugs
encountered), we'll have to drop regexp fontification for parser
fontification so this problem will simply disappear.
