[O] Getting heading properties from org-element

Hi all, Is there a convenient way to get the properties of a headline from org-element? I see they are in the parsed output, e.g. as :CATEGORIES emacs,org :DATE today, but I didn't see a way to get them if I don't already know what they are. I know how to get these from an org file, e.g.

[O] notes in org mode export to beamer

Is it possible to add notes --references, explanations, quotations, etc-- outside the frame in an org-mode presentation and keep them in exports? Actually I'm thinking more of a handout than a strict beamer export. Graphically, I'd like to show the frames as images and the notes as text below
