Here is something similar for gnus
http://ozymandias.dk/emacs/org-import-calendar.el
It looks for text/calendar parts. It copies a small org formatted text
snippet to the kill-ring. I then use org-remember for these mails and
just do a yank after the org-remember call.

Remember: use `Reply All
e the builtin support for FTP in Emacs (ange/tramp) to
read/write it and the corresponding ics file. Because the org file is
on a FTP server "C-c C-e i" will automatically write the ics file on
the FTP server.

The icalender export does not appear to support the new time ranges
feature.
When I export the following to ics via "C-C C-e i"
