Thanks for applying the patch. Yes, I think one of the FAQs nicely cautions against using org-diary (i.e., "think twice before using it!"). My only use for it at the moment is to pass org data to the cal-tex functions. Thanks for making this change. I can see that 3 seconds is a better value, especially since I set the value of org-diary-last-run-time before the rest of the function runs.
