$req_rec global not available when using Embperl::Object?

Hi, I'm currenting running Embperl 2.0b8 over mod_perl 1.27 / Apache 1.3.27. It seems that the $req_rec global variable isn't available to pages running under Embperl::Object. It is where when the PerlHandler is changed to Embperl. Is $req_rec not supposed to be available, or am I doing someth
