Recently master was merged into 2.9. The merge commit was later
reverted, so the *contents* of 2.9 are correct (I think), though the
history remains.
I have opened https://github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/issues/2420 to
discuss and track the issue, or we can talk about it here on the mailing
list.
I've locked master and 2.* while we address the problem.
