Resistors across Reinforced Insulation

1999-09-16 Thread Jim Eichner
Hi everyone: Is there a standard interpretation (e.g. in EN60950) that allows or disallows the bridging of a Reinforced isolation boundary by resistors? This stretches the term isolation a bit, but my feeling is that isolation really involves dielectric withstand and limitation of leakage

On the same topic as 'sweeper only' testing, does anyone have experience with log amplifier ICs? Analog Devices makes an AD8307, touting DC-500MHz 90dB dynamic range, and an input range of +16dBm to -72dBm. Data at http://products.analog.com/products/info.asp?product=AD8307 I realize this may

RE: Soak Testing Requirements

By soak I am assuming you are talking burn-in? If not quit reading here. Don't think there is a standard but it is a reliability/manufacturing dance. Burn-in is one way to reduce infant failure both on the manufacturing floor and into the constant failure rate of the ol' bathtub wear-out curve.

Testing by a certified lab is not mandatory; however, if your test results are ever reviewed, there is a chance that they could be challenged. We have performed our own tests on all of our products. Some of our files have been reviewed and none have been challenged. I would be interested in

Jim, If you have a sweeper then you can get away without a spectrum analyser providing you're not looking for deep stopband rejection. Just use a broadband diode detector (properly terminated) hooked up to a scope with the X axis synchronised to the sweeper. There was a time when this was the

At the low end the models are very, very good. Above 10MHz you need to really get imaginative about modeling the parasitics, which include the cabling *and* the environment (It's surprising the effect a shielded room can have on your readings) Note at the low end to be sure to include energetic
