Hi everyone: Is there a standard interpretation (e.g. in EN60950) that
allows or disallows the bridging of a Reinforced isolation boundary by
resistors? This stretches the term isolation a bit, but my feeling is
that isolation really involves dielectric withstand and limitation of
leakage

Greetings all,
Does anyone have information on standard JEIDA-52? One of our OEM customer is
requesting that we comply with JEIDA-52/CISPR24. Is their and difference
between JEIDA-52 and CISPR24. IS JEIDA-52 a publish standard. I was not able to
find any information JEIDA WEB site.
Thank you

Can anyone comment on the rationale for the difference in surge protection
requirements between Article 820-33 (Community Antenna Television and Radio
Distribution Systems) and Article 830-30 (Network-Powered Broadband
Communications Systems)?
In Article 820, it says that where

On the same topic as 'sweeper only' testing, does anyone have experience with

By soak I am assuming you are talking burn-in? If not quit reading here.
Don't think there is a standard but it is a reliability/manufacturing dance.
Burn-in is one way to reduce infant failure both on the manufacturing floor
and into the constant failure rate of the ol' bathtub wear-out curve.
Group,
Can anyone provide the details on Taiwan's proposed EMC compliance requirements
for ITE, effective July 2000.

Dear group,
This issue might have been discussed in the past, however, I couldn't find

Testing by a certified lab is not mandatory; however, if your test results
are ever reviewed, there is a chance that they could be challenged. We have
performed our own tests on all of our products. Some of our files have been
reviewed and none have been challenged. I would be interested in
Jim,
If you have a sweeper then you can get away without a spectrum analyser
providing you're not looking for deep stopband rejection. Just use a broadband
diode detector (properly terminated) hooked up to a scope with the X axis
synchronised to the sweeper. There was a time when this was the
I recalled that this subject had been discussed in depth at a BSI
committee meeting, but had to dig back to 1995 to find it.
The BSI committee stated, in response to any enquiry such as yours : -

At the low end the models are very, very good. Above 10MHz you need to
really get imaginative about modeling the parasitics, which include the
cabling *and* the environment (It's surprising the effect a shielded room
can have on your readings)
Note at the low end to be sure to include energetic
Jim:
I'll thread my comment into your last post. I'm still making the
assumption that you want to stay with the cheapest reasonable solution, and
not throw tens of kilobucks at the problem. That means a used sweeper and SA

Alan,
We have recently had an EN60950 safety report from a local consultant on a
piece of IT equip we designed which commented that a fuse may be required
on both the live and neutral of the mains input for certain countries in
Europe.

C'mon Group,
There must be more than one of you doing series production testing?
I am struggling to find hard data relating to the percentage of products
tested per batch, and the frequency of testing in accordance with Section 7
of EN 55022.
Is there anyone out there with a Gameplan?
Cheers,
