Jeff,
You will probably want to examine your PCBs within a system since the
humidity performance may vary. In general, it gets better if the internal
power dissipation generates a higher temperature than the ambient.
You'll probably also want to look at transportation requirements
(unpowered).
Hello Jeff,
You may want to check out GR-63-CORE sub. clause 4.1 table 4-4 ???

Yes there is a lot of activity in Europe to harmonize limits on human exposure
to non ionizing radiation and make them mandatory to all electrical equipment.
Please see below an article originally posted by Richard Woods that nicely tells
you what is going on. The document 1999/519/EC,
Hi all,
I have been asked if there is a way of calculating at the design stage
whether a product needs ventilation openings to keep the product cool.
I am not aware if there is a method of calculating this using variables such
as power dissipation, component ratings, volume etc.
If anyone can
Jeff, take a look at the IEC 68 series of environmental standards. ETSI 300

give you some guidance. You can download those standards for free at the

A previous message indicated that Listing marks from some NRTLs may not be
accepted by all jurisdictions. Has anyone encountered a jurisdiction that
did not accept the TUV Rheinland Listing mark?

Hello group,
I know this is a group focused on EMC/Safety issues, my primary function as
well as most of yours is to deal with
EMC/Safety issues but I think we all get other requests on the side so I'm
hoping you can help.
I have been asked to find a standard to verify environmental operating
Hello Friends,
Our Product Assurance Dept is taking a new look at product robustness, in
particular ESD sensitivity. They are evaluating new ways to test our
products beyond regulatory requirements to identify a reasonable margin.
Has anyone ever used a cross-vane simulator for a purpose

Hi all,
I read Hjalmar Arnason's posting on safety markings in Iceland
and noticed the Tetra number in the signature. I gather that
the US has decided against the use of Tetra. It is just slowly
being phased in by Dolphin Telecommunications here in the UK
and is on trial by a number of the
Hi all
I had already given my comment to Mr. Woods since his was the
original question but as far as I can tell we accept markings
in English, Danish, Swedish and Norwegian. I have not seen
any safety markings in Icelandic on equipment, except on those
manufact. here.
