An exciting opportunity in a dynamic manufacturer of professional audio, part

of a major US corporation. 

 

They are looking for someone to be responsible for safety regulatory
compliance testing, the RoHS and WEEE Directives and all related
certifications for commercial European, US and rest of the world markets.
Equipment to be certified includes a broad range of audio equipment/products
and the related critical components that are used in these products. 

 

If you have a degree in an engineering or electronics discipline, some
previous extensive hands-on compliance testing and related
engineering/documentation experience plus knowledge of the latest commercial
safety regulatory requirements in the UK and the rest of the world ... then,
they would like to hear from you.

applications.

 

We have an immediate need for an Engineering Manager in our compliance

engineering group.

 

Position Summary: 

Manages a group of eight to fifteen engineers and technicians. 

 

Essential Duties: 

 

* Works with Marketing and product Engineering to develop product

strategies, including schedules and Regulatory requirements. 

* Develops the project management and technical skills of direct

reports. 

* Manages all product Compliance efforts for new product platforms and

derivative products. 

* Manages the Compliance status of existing products. 

* Manages a cost center budget. 

* Supports Field Sales, Applications Engineering, Marketing, Operations,

all product development engineering, and Global Support

* Develops, maintains and reports on metrics to show performance of

department and company product compliance status.

* Manages CE Mark Self-Declaration, including Declarations of Conformity

and all supporting documentation.

* Manages/maintains good working relationship with Agencies such as UL,

CSA or other NRTL. 

* Other duties as assigned. 

 

Work Environment: 

 

* Some Work in a noisy and fast-paced engineering /compliance lab

environment. 

* Also works in a standard office environment and uses general office

equipment (telephone, PC, copier, fax machine, etc.). 

* Reports/responsible to Engineering VP; peer position to all senior

engineering managers, must competently communicate with these senior

positions

* Must support some projects as well as manage all efforts of the

department 

* Works under minimal supervision. Expect very little feedback regarding

performance. 

* Overtime may be necessary in times of increased demand. 

 

Skills: 

 

* Ability to construct cross-functional compliance teams and complete

programs, evaluations and approvals on schedule. 

* Ability to conceive appropriate architectures for new products,

balancing the requirements of Regulatory requirements, cost, and markets

 

* Ability to solve complex technical problems independently. 

* Ability to interact effectively with customers. 

* Ability to lead others. 

* Ability to manage multiple projects at one time. 

* Ability to successfully manage the Compliance requirements and

conformance of new products and product types. 

* Ability to be creative. 

* Excellent program management skills. 

* Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. 

* Engineering skills. 

 

Experience: 

 

* Minimum of ten years' related experience in the following areas:

* Effective interaction with approving Agencies, such as UL, CSA or

other NRTLs.

* Management of CE Marking Self-Declaration procedures using Standards

method.

* Familiar with FCC rules, 47CFR parts 2, 15 and 18.

* Familiar with safety standards EN 60950, EN 61010-1, UL 1741, UL 1012 

 

Education: 

* Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related

field, or equivalent experience and/or education.

* Master of Science degree preferred. 

* Electrical safety training (additional company safety courses may be

required). 

* CPR certification
