If you put any filtering in the way of caps on the supply you are going to get about 1.41 times the AC voltage... I'm in a similar situation: years ago I bid (on ebay) for some servo motors that turned out to be steppers. German made, 4 nm. 205 V and pretty good frequency response ... oh

I think if I were to stick with the 5 phase motors I would go the extra yard and program a micro with the step sequence so that all that was needed is a step and direction interface. I was just reading this web page about how much better 5 phase steppers are..
