I however know the ARM Cortex-M* model have a nested interrupt controller with priority and with priorities set correct it is possible to implement rate-monotonic scheduling in hardware with this. I works fo simple systems and there are quite few threads in linuxcnc although more might be needed for the communication. The highet end ARMs to my knowledge lack this interrupt controller.
