I had the same problem. Or at least a similar problem having to do with
hanging on restart.
I reflashed bios with a newer version and that fixed it.

Ubuntu from liveCD of 2.5.0 version does not shut down or restart, it
just logs off.
It is D525MW + 2gb ram + 160gb hdd PC.
I have searched the web for a solution and I have found 2 fixes:
