I have played around with either dapper or feisty making a bootable usb 
memory stick.  It worked great - but there was a issue..  Dapper was old 
enough that a lot of computers allowing usb boot devices where too new 
for dapper to find most of the hardware.  I just got done following 
these directions..

created a persistent emc2 live key chain drive.  (using the latest emc2 
livecd.)   Being persistent - you have a home directory that stays 
between boots/computers.
