you'll need to post your complete config folder as an archive somewhere ,
not just snips .
so we can mimick your installation .
it could be you have the spindle enable reversed in hardware , hence it
works but not from the gui . ( easily done )
use the hal

I think it is here...

On a different tack, where does one find a Preempt-RT patched kernel for Jessie?

I looked at it a few weeks ago and was disappointed to see that -test2
removed support for the 3.16.7 kernel that I had targeted for

That one comes from debian.org, not linuxcnc.org. The debian folks
publish it only occasionally; when they do it's available in
Has anyone here noticed that the current Linuxcnc Wheezy RTAI-PAE kernel
doesn't recognize any memory beyond 2.5G?
That inspired me to look at the one for Jessie, and while the PAE in it does
seem to work fine, there are other problems, namely the latest Linuxcnc
buildbot version is only
It's modbus, sorry forgot to mention that.
What baffles me is the Spindle buttons on the panel, AFAIK, just map to the
same spindle-run in the HAL that M3 goes to. I remember looking at the HAL
monitor on this weeks ago and IIRC it was "spindle run true, but
spindle-isrunning false". The

That's my fault - I forgot to turn on PAE in the Wheezy RTAI kernel
(despite its name implying it has PAE).
Looking at the RTAI site, I see there is now an 5.0-test2. Has anyone given
that a whirl to see if it helps?

I am running linuxcnc 2.8.0 and use adaptive feed. It is however not possible
with negative values. It works all the way down ot zero motion but no backwards.
I know there is a negative feed rate branch but do anybody know where it is?

I have an X200 VFD. M3,M5,S18000 work fine, from MDI or code. My MPG's
"spindle" button works.
On the default panel, there's a "Spindle" button flanked with a CW/CCW
indicator. Clicking any of that doesn't make the spindle go, even with
"S" set to a valid RPM.
It's not JUST that. Once you
