Jon,

I'm working with older AMC analog drives now. 25A20's

What is the full part number of your drives? Is it an 30A20AC ?

I like the AMC drive, even though I am having tuning problems (I think it is
the particular drive and/or motor.)

AMC tech support is pretty good. I've called them several times.. They are
US, PST.

I've heard both positive and negative comments about this.
Is it possible to use the Pi4 with an Ethernet board like the 7i92 and
nothing connected for keyboard/mouse/monitor and use the WiFi connection to
another computer for display/keyboard/mouse?

Or is the screen updating intensive enough that it could cause delay issues
with the actual CNC operation?

If it does work, which particular remote desktop is used?
Thanks

Try one of these DC drives.
Work pretty well. I have 3 on my Bridgeport Series II

I haven't got $99 in the 5, 3 different types I'm playing with.
Technology does move on and this stuff just keeps getting cheaper.

The mesa spinx1 to interface the audio boards costs more than any one of these.
But at the expense of 2 more output pins, the olimex board can run a 40 volt,
30 amp motor. Thats a 1.2 kw servo. Even for this job, serious overkill.

Using a treadmill controller is, IMO, a great way to shoot yourself in the
foot, or worse. Think outside that box, far better stuff at lower cost is
available today.

Re: [Emc-users] How to make a frame square?

2015-12-15 Thread linuxcnc
Square cutting the ends, or mitering, or whatever is just the beginning.
The real effort is in the assembly. Holding it square, or aligned, while
assembling the frame is key.
Also, be judicious with the term 'square.' Square in on application is
miles off in another. Be reasonable with the expectations.
All extrusions have some amount of bend/twist/bow. It's in the process.
Usually measured in inches per inch, or degrees per inch, or whatever. Look
closely and you see this even in the highest accuracy bearing rails. The
issue is 'installed' straightness, or squareness.
And don't forget that the frame will move about under load. It's all a
matter of how much.
Good Luck.

I was wondering what is the easiest way to make a T-slot aluminum based
frame for CNC square?

No matter how good is the cross cut, it never makes absolutely right angle
in corners or T sections which causes problems with guide rails etc.

Thanks,

Re: [Emc-users] Driver for 48V BLDC servo motor

Once again, PCW at Mesanet comes through. Check out the 7I39. I have 2

system to a 6I24.) Mesa has a few other small drives as well, like the
7I40. Check 'em out.

Does anybody know BLDC motor drivers suitable to run BLDC servo motor:
rated at 230W, 48V, 8 poles, 3000 RPM?

I want to control the motor using one PWM and three hall signals or three
phase PWM.

Has anybody succeeded running some simple BLDC drivers for that?

Maybe one of these would have fast response and work like it should to
control the motor:
