I'm using a plaintext editor with code highlighting, and a JavaScript
debugger running inside Thunderbird.

Debugging:
On Thunderbird 17 I'm using TinyJSD. Unfortunately it does not work
(yet) properly on Thunderbird beta and newer, thus I'm using the
integrated "Remote Debugging" feature that's part of recent
Thunderbird and Firefox versions (in short: it works like debugging
Firefox OS; you just launch Thundebird instead of Firefox OS). See
