[Enigmail]Enigmail 3.1.2 (20230121-1152): Error message on Debian

I'm getting this error message on Debian when starting my e-mail client:

"gpgme-json",

This started after the Enigmail 3.1.2 update was pushed.

How do I install this package on Debian Buster?

I can change Enigmail to use OpenPGP.js but then I can't access my
system's keychain.

AFAIK the only security-related reason for dropping XUL was that XUL
addons were written in the browser's own language and had access to too
many things, including files on user's hard drive. The security problem
in XUL was rogue add-ons which won't be a problem if you only use
Interlink with Enigmail and the few other addons that have been approved
for Interlink.

The WebExtensions which replaced XUL also aren't impervious to rogue
developers:

[Enigmail] How to enable Autocrypt on Linux

2020-07-11 Thread Dr. Simon Donkey via enigmail-users
--- Begin Message ---
I've set up Enigmail 2.1.7 on Thunderbird 68.9.0 on Linux and I can't
find the Autocrypt option anywhere. On Windows I can open the compose
window and then in the Enigmail menu there's a submenu "Preferences"
with "Signing/Encryption options" which have a checkbox for Enable
autocrypt and Prefer encrypted e-mails from the people you exchange
e-mail with.

I can't find any of that on Linux. The Enigmail menu there has only two
options: Key management and Preferences (not a submenu and doesn't seem
to correspond to any window in the Windows Enigmail menu).

Nor is there a Windows 7 version, according to their sys reqs page, and
it needs a whopping 8 GB RAM?! I hope that's a typo, but unfortunately
the former is already a deal breaker for me.

(Apologies to Olav, initially sent the mail to him only.)

Hello Patrick

Many thanks for working on Enigmail! Are there other clients beside
Thunderbird that support it? I'm fed up with Thunderbird and ready to
move on to greener pastures.
