I use Win4Lin 5.1 which runs fine under e. Recently (within the last three weeks of cvs builds), I notice that X is always using 1-3% CPU cycles even when I am idle and no apps are running (per gkrellm2). This ONLY occurs if Win4Lin has not been launched in e. Once it is launched, X cpu usage is 0 when idle.
I thought it was a W4L module thing, but running KDE 3.3.2 in the exact same environment -- kernel, modules, boot parameters -- X uses no cycles when idle. Not a show stopper, but could be an e thing since it does not occur under KDE. KDE Usage PID TID CLS RTPRIO NI PRI PSR %CPU STAT COMMAND 8259 8259 TS - 0 24 0 0.8 SL X E Usage 8834 8834 TS - 0 24 0 8.8 SL X I ran PS several times and all results were high and different. Under KDE I got 0.8 each time (probably because I was using E term and X was needed to draw a new display). E consistently has higher X usage. Once Win4Lin was loaded, X usage was nil. Maybe not an E problem, but I thought I would mention it. Only because it does not occur under KDE. -- Peter ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IntelliVIEW -- Interactive Reporting Tool for open source databases.
