Gaim suffers also from an annoying problem whereby the main window and all peripheral windows are considered as /one/ window. So, any settings applied apply to all open gaim windows (to include all chat windows and main client window) which isn't desirable. I'm not sure if I relayed that right. I think I have but it's definitely an annoying occurence. I fear that this is probably a gaim responsibility however but just adding to the discussion.
E uses the WM_CLASS property to distinguish application windows. Gaim sets (unlike other apps) WM_CLASS to the same value on all its windows...
Also, for some reason, gaim wants to place the "Buddy List" window at (0.0).
Not an E bug :-)
It could of course be considered to use additional info bits to distinguish these windows, but I think that it would be an overkill to implement that just to fix an annoyance with one app with unusual behavior.
