I agree this is peculiar - I was trying to figure it out last night. I
guess the confusion is related to defaulting user options vs defaulting the
storage type (I.e. Null or false).
If we were to fix this then I suppose the _VALUE macros would have to
follow appropriate behaviour to provide a sensi
