Re: [e-users] new module: systray

2009-03-24 Thread Downknew Wise
Well done!!! Now e is more usable!!!

It works without crashes with my systray apps:
emesene
pidgin
network manager
and also gnome-do :)

2009/3/23 Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri barbi...@profusion.mobi

For those that do not read svn commits mail list, I just added a
systray module to E-MODULES-EXTRA/systray. It is very basic but should
be able to replace trayer or stalonetray or any other tray you're
 using outside e17.

It is still ugly as it will be presented as a plain/solid color and
not respect theme image. Theme must provide inset and plain colors
in order to specify the desired color. By default I used white for
inset and light gray for plain so it matches black and white (e17
default). I plan to implement a hack in order to improve this
situation, but I don't know when I'll make this.

 Please report bugs and suggestions.

[e-users] [E-devel] new module: systray

2009-03-24 Thread hannes.janet...@gmail.com
Hello,

the systray module will need some special handling to work with
itask-ng. It's already planned to make support for it, though it could
take some time til I get to this.

Regards,
Hannes

Cool... Now I've been able to replace the old e_systray module! ;)

However I've tried to put it as a gadget of itask-ng and it has some
(expected) issues (the icon is shown in the middle of the screen).
Who should fix this? The systray module or itask-ng?

 Thanks again!

Systray. I suppose this happens because the window I create is RGB and
it cannot be child of ARGB window, at least not directly. I plan to
have this window as ARGB as soon as possible, but I'd like to wait
Viktor's work on esmart_xpixmap to evolve and use it, it should fix
issues with transparent backgrounds and allow it to work on itask-ng.
Of course we also need to take care to handle cases where there is no
composite extension.

[e-users] system tray nm-applet icon

2009-03-24 Thread Jona Schuman
Hello,

I'm having an issue that I imagine concerns the system tray. Namely,
the icon for the NetworkManger applet disappears. The applet itself
works fine, it's just invisible unless I click on it to get its menu.
All my other applets don't seem afflicted and nm-applet itself works
fine when I run it in the Gnome panel.

I'm running 0.16.8.15-1 and network-manager-gnome 0.6.6-4 on Debian squeeze.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Jona

no ideas on what can be the problem, since everything else works.

I don't use nm myself, but connman that I believe is a better
solution. We plan to add e-connman support soon, so you will be able
to interact with it even without systray since it will be a native e
gadget.
