I ran into this a while back. I think I had to set the
enlightenment_sys executable (probably /usr/bin/enlightenment_sys or
/usr/local/bin/enlightenment_sys) to setuid root.

You need to install them as root, or chown root + chmod +s (ie: set
suid bit) so helper binaries (enlightenment_sys, batget, tempget) have
root capabilities to execute their tasks.

I don't have batget or tempget, but I do have enlightment_sys, and it's
already suid root. Also, I installed it as root to begin with in the
default prefix (/usr/local).

All my other applets don't seem afflicted and nm-applet

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, problems like that seem to come and go.
Currently I see that problem with pidgin but not with NM
 (version
  0.7.0.99).
I guess I should try to figure out if it can be fixed in e16
 or if
  the apps are just misbehaving.

If you want more apps to poke at, I tend to see issues with
 Opera and
occasionally the Screenlets icon not being visible in e16's
 systray.

Icon drawing becomes problematic when changing icon sizes
 around a bit
  too,
no matter what icons are in there.. Maybe the problem is related?
Turning on base images aggravates the issue when changing the
 icon
  sizes too.

My problems with pidgin seem go away when setting the systray
icon size to e.g. 16 or 32 in stead of the default 24.
This might also fix problems with nm-applet.

Just thought I'd confirm that setting icon size to 16 appears to fix
all strange behavior with nm-applet on my end. Thanks!
How do you set the icon size for systray? I can't seem to find it
 anywhere.

Right click in some systray part, e.g. background or slider, and
 select Settings...
If the systray background/slider/arrows are all hidden you'll have to
 use eesh ibox cfg _ST_.

 /Kim
When I right click in systray, nothing happens. Also, I'm running e17,
so I don't have eesh. Is there a way to run that command using
enlightenment_remote? I tried reading the man page, but it has a LOT of
options, and I didn't see anything about calling up a configuration dialog.

  1. Mouse input is not recognized in Module settings window. I wanted to
load a module, so I went into module setting window, but unfortunately
mouse inputs are not recognized there. I am not able to click on any of
the modules and also I am not able to scroll. But I am able to click on
the close button. Similar case when I tried to set Virtual Desktop
  settings.

  2. Earlier by default mouse flip use to work with Virtual Desktops. But
now it is not working even though the Animated Flip check box is checked
  under Virtual Desktop settings.

For this you have to enable edge-bindings module.

Thanks! This fixed it for me. Just as a note to people, (I didn't know
what edge-bindings was, so this wasn't obvious to me) once you load the
edje-bindings module, you set it up under settings-input.

Am I the only person facing this problem?

  Regards
  Noorul

Re: [e-users] new module: systray

2009-03-27 Thread Matthew Morgan
For those that do not read svn commits mail list, I just added a
systray module to E-MODULES-EXTRA/systray. It is very basic but should
be able to replace trayer or stalonetray or any other tray you're
 using outside e17.

It is still ugly as it will be presented as a plain/solid color and
not respect theme image. Theme must provide inset and plain colors
in order to specify the desired color. By default I used white for
inset and light gray for plain so it matches black and white (e17
default). I plan to implement a hack in order to improve this
situation, but I don't know when I'll make this.

 Please report bugs and suggestions.

I like to use knotes, which has a systray icon, so I updated my e17 and
libs to head and built the new module. My knotes icon doesn't load in
the systray, though. It still just floats around like it used to.

I recently switched from KDE to enlightenment. When I use kde

instance, the fonts in Quanta are very small. I've tried using
qtconfig; it has no effect. I noticed that if I run kcontrol and
change the font size, then change it back, my font settings get
loaded. Is there a way to make this happen at startup?

Also, when using the kcontrol work around, my gtk fonts get
changed.
This is sort of annoying, but I guess I could live with it.

When I still had kde-3.5.* I found that running kcminit at start of
session fixed both the kde and gtk fonts. I have no idea why this
   worked,
only that it produced the results I wanted.

Ah! This is exactly what I needed. It still makes my gtk fonts too
big, but I think I can fix that in kcontrol. Thank you very much!

If you manage to figure out *why* it works, please tell me. I tried, and got
hopelessly lost. Understanding all the bits that go to make a KDE or Gnome
session start up and work coherently is beyond me.
I don't plan on trying to figure it out. It works. ;)

Anyway, my gtk fonts looked fine as soon as I removed the custom stuff I
put in .gtkrc to fix them. I think KDE is managing both KDE-QT and GTK
when you start kcminit. It'd be nice if it wasn't so complicated.
