Anyone know if there is a snapshot/what the last version of the places
module that works with E17.6 is?
the version compatible with e17 is in git in the branch: enlightenment-0.17
You just need to checkout that branch instead of master.

Ok, I lied..well, not lied, but I was wrong :D
I just checked my sources and this is where I'm getting my places and
currently works with e18:
git://git.enlightenment.org/enlightenment/modules/places
