How is it the drivers fault if the kernel (and all modules) stayed the same? E
is what changed... Plus trying different kernels results in the same.

I have something like that too. I though it was E's compilation.
Without composite, I also have 'missing' part of the windows, or things that
don't appear when they should (like menues).looks like xdamages or
xfixes lib are not working as they should
