 Hello,

I'm having an issue that I imagine concerns the system tray. Namely,
the icon for the NetworkManger applet disappears. The applet itself
works fine, it's just invisible unless I click on it to get its menu.
All my other applets don't seem afflicted and nm-applet itself works
fine when I run it in the Gnome panel.

 I'm running 0.16.8.15-1 and network-manager-gnome 0.6.6-4 on Debian
 squeeze.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, problems like that seem to come and go.
Currently I see that problem with pidgin but not with NM (version
 0.7.0.99).
I guess I should try to figure out if it can be fixed in e16 or if
 the apps are just misbehaving.

If you want more apps to poke at, I tend to see issues with Opera and
occasionally the Screenlets icon not being visible in e16's systray.

Icon drawing becomes problematic when changing icon sizes around a bit
 too,
no matter what icons are in there.. Maybe the problem is related?
Turning on base images aggravates the issue when changing the icon
 sizes too.

My problems with pidgin seem go away when setting the systray icon size to e.g.
16 or 32 in stead of the default 24.
This might also fix problems with nm-applet.

I also see some trouble with opera when changing the icon size. I have
committed a fix that seems to cure some of this. There still are some issues
when using a base image.

/Kim

  Hi e-users,

Today I updated my copy of svn repository and compiled
everything. Compilation had no problem and I installed latest e17 on my

  1. Mouse input is not recognized in Module settings window. I wanted to
load a module, so I went into module setting window, but unfortunately
mouse inputs are not recognized there. I am not able to click on any of
the modules and also I am not able to scroll. But I am able to click on
the close button. Similar case when I tried to set Virtual Desktop
  settings.

  2. Earlier by default mouse flip use to work with Virtual Desktops. But
now it is not working even though the Animated Flip check box is checked
  under Virtual Desktop settings.

For this you have to enable edge-bindings module.

Thanks! This fixed it for me. Just as a note to people, (I didn't know
what edge-bindings was, so this wasn't obvious to me) once you load the
edje-bindings module, you set it up under settings-input.

Am I the only person facing this problem?

  Regards
  Noorul

Re: [e-users] using enlightenment_remote from a vt...

2009-03-28 Thread Jackson
Thanks mate, that was a real help!

If the event that anyone stumbles across this thread having the same
problem in the future, the grep command gave me the exact output for what to
add after the command export E_IPC_SOCKET=; ignore the |0 or \|0 at the
end of the filename as it appears in the terminal, but you must include both
digits (probably :0.0) for the display number; I had been confused by the
error message and never found the right combination.

Thanks again!

I hit this problem recently, you need to set E_IPC_SOCKET

 e.g.: export E_IPC_SOCKET=/tmp/enlightenmment-username/disp-:0.0-pid

Your shell should autocomplete it as you type if you're heavy on the Tab
 key
 ;-)

You can also grep IPC ~/.xsession-errors and you should be able to see
 what to set it to.

  Hello,
I'm having problems using enlightenment_remote from a virtual terminal.
  If
I issue the command enlightenment_remote from the vt prompt (not xterm,
eterm, etc--they work fine), I get an error The E_IPC_SOCKET environment
variable is not set. This is Exported by Enlightenment to all processes
that it launches. This environment variable must be set and must point
 to
Enlightenment's IPC socket file (minus port number). ERROR:
Enlightenment_remote cannot set up the IPC socket. Try setting
 DISPLAY=:0
  in your environment.

Anyway, I tried adding the line DISPLAY=:0 to /etc/environment (I'm
 using
ubuntu) and restarting the vt, but I haven't had any success. Any
 guesses
on what else to try? I need some way to restart e from a vt when it
  freezes.

  Thanks,
  Jxn
