Ok from reading the web site I understand that gstreamer 1.63 can be
installed in parallel with 0.10 so if I install 1.63 is it going to kick
out an error because it's not gstreamer-1.0?I may have my question
answered for myself before long eh? lol

Not sure what distro you are using so not able to check the packages.
It should be fine, but its the libs you need for building.
