Re: [e-users] Using xinerama, dr17, right click menus
On Mon, 13 Aug 2007 11:06:39 +0100 Lucas van Staden [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi, I am not sure if this is an issue/configuration with E, or a xinerama issue. I use a dual screen (obviously as I am using xinerama), with my second screen to the right of my main screen. If I right click on any application (not on the e-desktop), then the right click menu of the application appears on the main screen, 'attached' to the right hand border. Very frustrating, as I gotta move my mouse all the way accross to the main screen to use the right-click menu. Anyone else had this problem, and possibly fixed it. Some system info: Gentoo, with modular xorg 7, dr17 from cvs build about a week ago. ANy help would be appreciated, and this is a xinerama issue, please do tell, and I will find their list and post the question. Regards Lucas Hi I use Xinerama in E17 and its fine and does all the right things. Test to see if Xinerama does the same mouse wierdness in another window manager. Xinerama should work fine in other wm's as it does in my laptop. So far I have found xinerama works as advertised in icewm, wmaker, e16, kde, except metacity, which is no great loss as E17 is far superior. (thanks E17 devs!) Check out what settings are required for xinerama for the machine's video card. Its likely the solution is in the xorg.conf for the video card. cheers Russell - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. Still grepping through log files to find problems? Stop. [e-users] interesting thing happened with xinerama
Hi All Thanks for your help in compiling e17! I have managed to get it running in dual heads with a laptop and external lcd. It it now able to run dual monitors in xinerama and also have independent heads! Xinerama allows me move open windows from one head to another as if it were one big monitor. Normally, when changing desktops, both heads were linked and both would change to next desktop together. This is also what is normally seen in other window mangers. However, when I configured the mouse wheel to scroll the desktops up and down the heads became independent of each other and yet I could still move open windows from one screen to another. Cool! This makes xinerama with independent heads! even more useful! This is what I did to get the mouse wheel do this: 1) L click desktop 2) select Configuration - Configuration Panel - Keyboard and Mouse - Mouse Bindings 3) click Add Bindings 4) move mouse wheeel up 5) click on Mouse Wheel Up on LH column 6) click on Flip Desktop Linearly... 7) set Action Parameters to 1 8) Set Action Context to Container 9) click Apply button 10) move mouse cursor on to desktop and test wheel 11) do same for mouse wheel down but put set Action Parameters to -1 After this the heads became independent! Can some one else repeat this! cheers Russell - This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML. No limits. Hi How can EnlightenmentDR17 be compiled on another and then transferred to another computer? The compiling will be distributed between a dual-cpu server and a desktop both running ubuntu fiesty. The finished enlightenment apps are to go on to a laptop running ubuntu. TIA Russell All I can say is it's one of the modules. I'm unfortunately away from E17 now so I can't use it to tell you. Paul There really are 2 options for something like this. The first being the slideshow module from cvs under e_modules, this didn't work for newly made xplanet jpeg images. Why this added layer of complexity to have a jpeg turned into a .edj before it can be viewed as a wallpaper? so frustrating! so then it requires a special script to step through the added complexity to enable xplanet images to work! or you can try something like e17xplanet: http://www.squaregoldfish.co.uk/software/e17xplanet/ tho I am not sure of it's current status, nor if it even works against current cvs. It installs after removing references in fstab to mount directories that enable a chroot to work. With a bit of fiddling to enable xplanet to make the same images in e17, it works well! thanks Russell Send instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger.yahoo.com - Take Surveys.
