 Hi,

I am not sure if this is an issue/configuration with E, or a xinerama
 issue.

I use a dual screen (obviously as I am using xinerama), with my second
screen to the right of my main screen.

If I right click on any application (not on the e-desktop), then the
right click menu of the application appears on the main screen,
'attached' to the right hand border.

Very frustrating, as I gotta move my mouse all the way accross to the
main screen to use the right-click menu.

Anyone else had this problem, and possibly fixed it.

 Some system info:

Gentoo, with modular xorg 7, dr17 from cvs build about a week ago.

ANy help would be appreciated, and this is a xinerama issue, please do
tell, and I will find their list and post the question.

Hi
I use Xinerama in E17 and its fine and does all the right things.

Test to see if Xinerama does the same mouse wierdness in another window manager.
Xinerama should work fine in other wm's as it does in my laptop. So far I have
found xinerama works as advertised in icewm, wmaker, e16, kde, except metacity,
which is no great loss as E17 is far superior. (thanks E17 devs!)
Check out what settings are required for xinerama for the machine's video card.
Its likely the solution is in the xorg.conf for the video card.

cheers

[e-users] interesting thing happened with xinerama

2007-05-23 Thread Russell Davie
Hi All
Thanks for your help in compiling e17!

I have managed to get it running in dual heads with a laptop and external lcd.

It it now able to run dual monitors in xinerama and also have independent heads!

Xinerama allows me move open windows from one head to another as if it were one
big monitor. Normally, when changing desktops, both heads were linked and both
would change to next desktop together. This is also what is normally seen in
other window mangers.

However, when I configured the mouse wheel to scroll the desktops up and down
the heads became independent of each other and yet I could still move open
windows from one screen to another.

Cool! This makes xinerama with independent heads! even more useful!

This is what I did to get the mouse wheel do this:

1) L click desktop
2) select Configuration - Configuration Panel - Keyboard and Mouse - Mouse
Bindings
3) click Add Bindings
4) move mouse wheeel up
5) click on Mouse Wheel Up on LH column
6) click on Flip Desktop Linearly...
7) set Action Parameters to 1
8) Set Action Context to Container
9) click Apply button
10) move mouse cursor on to desktop and test wheel
11) do same for mouse wheel down but put set Action Parameters to -1

After this the heads became independent!

Can some one else repeat this!

cheers

[e-users] compiling enlightenment using another host

2007-05-08 Thread Russell Davie

Hi

How can EnlightenmentDR17 be compiled on another and then transferred to
another computer?

The compiling will be distributed between a dual-cpu server and a desktop both
running ubuntu fiesty. The finished enlightenment apps are to go on to a
laptop running ubuntu.

So what directories do I need to copy over to the laptop?

cheers

There really are 2 options for something like this. The first being the
slideshow module from cvs under e_modules,

this didn't work for newly made xplanet jpeg images.
Why this added layer of complexity to have a jpeg turned into a .edj before it
can be viewed as a wallpaper?
so frustrating!

so then it requires a special script to step through the added complexity to
enable xplanet images to work!

or you can try something like
   e17xplanet: http://www.squaregoldfish.co.uk/software/e17xplanet/ tho I
am not sure of it's current status, nor if it even works against current
 cvs.

It installs after removing references in fstab to mount directories that enable
a chroot to work.

With a bit of fiddling to enable xplanet to make the same images in e17, it
works well!

thanks

I missed the bit that you already had mpd installed (need to scroll down)

I checked the emphasis configure file, and it shows that it looks for libmpd
= 0.12.0, you show installed 0.01 (or is this an ubuntu version number ?)

Could this be your issue ?

ahh I see what you mean e17/apps/emphasis/configure...

on line 6078 in
if `pkg-config --atleast-version=0.12.4 libmpd`; then
 libmpd_v_cflags=-DLIBMPD_0_12_4
else
 libmpd_v_cflags=-DLIBMPD_0_12_0

It seems that version Ubuntu uses is too early for the configure.

Description: High-level client library for accessing Music Player Daemon
LibMpd is a library that provides high-level, callback-based access to
 Music Player Daemon (mpd).

Then found a deb which is more recent
http://musicpd.org/~decklin/debian/libmpd0_0.13.0~svn+r4531-1_i386.deb
but it needs libc6 (= 2.3.6-6) whereas the same in ubuntu dapper is
2.3.6-0ubuntu20.4

so fetched src for libmpd via svn: $ sudo svn co
https://svn.musicpd.org/libmpd/trunk libmpd
then: $ sudo ./autogen.sh
then: $ sudo checkinstall -D (added version number to 0.13.1 from ChangeLog)

which gave me a fresh shiny libmpd_0.13.1-1_i386.deb

and restarted easy_17.sh and then emphasis compiled!

thanks for the prompting

[e-users] slideshow shrunk in openoffice

2006-04-18 Thread Russell Davie
Hi,

Slide presentation in Openoffice 1.1.5 Impress are shrunk and look like a large
postage stamp 5cmx5cm, stuck in LH corner of OOo window.

Whereas it is the regular full screen in other windowmanagers, E16, IceWM,
Blackbox, Metacity, Windowmaker.

I have tried using OOO to 2.x, its too unstable and crashes on this laptop,
which isn't a good look for presentations.

any hints?

TIA

Monitor has been split apart into separate modules now, and is no
longer being maintained itself, as far as I know. Check out mem, cpu,
