Thank you, it was that. I added a Systray and now it
works fine.

[e-users] pidgin 2 windows

2014-12-22 Thread Francesc Guasch
Hi, I have a weird problem with pidgin. I usually deal
with it killing it and restarting again but it is quite
annyoing. This is E-0.19.1, efl-1.12.2.

Here it goes, pidgin is an instant messaging application. It
has 2 windows, one for the List of friends and another one
for the conversations.

But as soon as I close my List for friends window
it disappears and there is no way to bring it back. It appears
as defunct in ps.

Even funnier, I am able to crash E if I type:

   /usr/bin/wmctrl -a Pidgin

Pressing then F1 fixes the environment.

I guess maybe I am using it wrong and I should minimize instead
of closing ? But it wasn't always like that. There was a time
in a previous E that pidgin run better. Sorry if I am not more
specific.
Maybe pidgin behaviour is tuned for Unity or something.

If I spotted some kind of but I can file it. Tell me what
more information can I gather to help you fix it.

I tried a plugin to join both windows in one, but it is alpha
and did more wrong than right.
I am open to try an alternative to pidgin anyway :)

This does not happen here, but I am on e-0.18.8.

If I close a conversation window, it's gone for good. If I close the main
'Buddy List' window, it closes, but I am able to bring it up again by clicking
on its icon in e's tooltray.

I never experienced that issue with pidgin, but I don't use it much
this days. Anyway to trac bug we use phab.enlightenment.org. Could you
open a task there ?

Thanks,

I've noticed that it'll do that unless you've got a tray for it to close
to. I usually just use 'trayer' so that it's got something to close
(minimize) to.

Pidgin, just like other applications with a traybar icon (e.g. skype),
doesn't exit when you click on the close button but iconize itself. If
you want to close it you should instead press ctrl+q or choose exit
from the Contacts menu or from the menu of its tray icon (if you have
a traybar).
