Same thing happened to me. It seems, that Enlightenment's splash
screen hangs somehow during the start-up. Disable it and you'll be fine.
You have 3 choices here IMHO:
1. Go back to the previous version, which doesn't have this problem.
2. Remove your ~/.e directory and setup

Try to run top on another console and check if any of enlightenment processes
closes to 100% of CPU usage.
I had a simmilar issue, it was caused by evas_image_loader which coulnd't load
an .svg image.
