exhibited this symptom. This occurs with all themes and can be seen in
the
Navigate to /desktop/gnome/background and uncheck draw_background.
You can do this with gconf-editor, or the command-line tool, i think
it's gconftool.

through the edge bindings to get virtual desktop mouse edge-flipping
