It turned out that it was because in presentation mode normal and low
levels are not diplayed, only urgent are, and it indeed makes perfect sense.
Wido, were you in presentation mode as me?

mmm, I don't know. I kinda like that it remembers it. I usually keep it on
always. I would like that is at least documented that presentation
deactivates notifications.
