For EPEL 8 I would see to getting it to work with python39 requirements.

https://github.com/shlomif/PySolFC/issues/159 , I realized  pysolfc-
2.8.0 (Mar 05, 2020) already doesn't work on epel 7 and epel 8 ...

The rule of thumb is that we don't. If you need a certain feature from the
newer version, you can try requesting a backport, explaining your use case. We
generally try to help fellow EPEL packagers even when they are not RHEL
customers (when the backport is doable with reasonable effort).

However, if you just want a newer version because you like new things, maybe
try Fedora Linux instead of EL+EPEL.

python-attrs is shipped in the base distro so EPEL can not easily
replace the package. You will need to work with the upstream RHEL team to
see if they can update python-attrs OR you will need to update your python
requirements to python38 or python39 whose modules come with the 19.3.0 and
20.3.0 respectively.

[EPEL-devel] python-attrs on epel very outdated

2022-07-05 Thread Sérgio Basto
Hi,

looking to
https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=22940
and
https://www.attrs.org/en/stable/changelog.html
and
https://git.centos.org/rpms/python-attrs

18.1.0 was release on 2018-05-03 , but centos 8 have 17.04

in 2019-02-25 we have the first update of python-attrs to 18.x

Remember python-attrs don't have many deps , what I can do to have it
updated at least to 18.x version released at 2018 / 2019 ?

python-pystalk (maintained by: orphan)
python-pystalk-0.5.1-2.el7.src requires python2-attrs = 17.4.0-4.el7,
python36-attrs = 17.4.0-4.el7
python2-pystalk-0.5.1-2.el7.noarch requires python2-attrs = 17.4.0-
4.el7
python36-pystalk-0.5.1-2.el7.noarch requires python36-attrs = 17.4.0-
4.el7

python-service-identity (maintained by: carlwgeorge, eclipseo,
ignatenkobrain, python-sig, ralph)
python-service-identity-18.1.0-1.el7.src requires python36-attrs =
17.4.0-4.el7
python3-service-identity-18.1.0-1.el7.noarch requires python36-attrs =
17.4.0-4.el7

Affected (co)maintainers
carlwgeorge: python-attrs
churchyard: python-attrs
eclipseo: python-attrs
ignatenkobrain: python-attrs
lbalhar: python-attrs
python-sig: python-attrs
ralph: python-attrs

Depending packages (epel7) (2): python-pystalk python-service-identity

FTBFS (epel7) (1): python-attrs

FTBFS (epel7) (depended on) (1): python-attrs

FTBFS (epel7) (not depended on) (0):
