Hello:
I've recently installed RedHat 8.0 on a system, and I was trying
to load ethereal 0.9.7 onto it. I read the FAQ and looked at previous
messages in this userlist, but was unable to find information about the
particular problem that is occurring.

When I go to install the ethereal-base-0.9.7-1.7.2.i386.rpm on my
system, I get the error that ucd-snmp and libsnmp.so.0 are needed by this
rpm file. I go to get the latest version of ucd-snmp, but RH 8.0 already
has a later version installed by default (net-snmp 5.0.1), so it seems
asinine to uninstall a newer version of the package to get ethereal to work.
Is ethereal just looking in the wrong place for the install of net-snmp,
or do I actually need an older version of it to get ethereal running?

I also read that ethereal 0.9.6 should already be installed on the
default install of a redhat 8 box, but all i see that is installed is
tethereal.

I'm probably just making some sort of easily-fixable mistake, and it
probably isn't worth sending to the news group, but I couldn't seem to find
any solutions in the normal places. Suggestions would be appreciated.

                                                Thank you,
                                                Cameron Hummels
