[Eug-lug]CIA Processors

2003-03-23 Thread Ben Huot
Are the CIA processors in the Lindows computers any good? How do they compare to Celerons, AMD, etc. I think they are somehow related to the Cyrix processors. I'm looking more for quality than power. I use my computer heavily every day and I want it to last 4 years without replacing parts. --

Ive never even heard of CIA processors! Could you provide a link to the computers in question. Are you talking about the computers that wallmart is selling? (they have some computers running lindows, and are quite inexpensive (starting at $200)).

The processors are made by via. via bought the rights to cyrix's processors or bought the company a few years ago. Quality I am not sure. Jim K - Original Message - From: Ben Huot [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, March 23, 2003 10:12 AM Subject: [Eug-lug]CIA Processors

Is it better than 8N1? I might try it... BTW, I think the Via C3 is what was meant. From the slashdot threads I read after some of the Lindows announcements, I gather that the C3 at 8-900MHz works about like a 4-500MHz Pentium. I think that, bang-for-the-buck, AMD is the way to go (IMO,
