Re: [eug-lug]Wonderful World of Linux 2.6

2003-11-01 Thread Bob Crandell
Slackware includes 2.6 in 9.1 but it defaults to 2.4. You can select 2.6 at some
point during the install.

I'm waiting for 2.6.1 then my Folding points are going to drop way off while all my
servers get the new kernel.

How many EUGLUGsters are already running a 2.6 test kernel on one or
 more boxen?

The schedule is, It is ready when it is ready. Until it is ready, it
is not ready.

Here's a more informative quote from LWN.
http://lwn.net/Articles/55955/

 Kernel release status

The current development kernel is 2.6.0-test9, released[1] by Linus on
October 25. It consists almost entirely of important fixes, of course,
but Linus also threw in Jeff Garzik's libata driver. As always, the
 long-format changlog[2] has the details.

It seems a real 2.6.0 release could be getting close:

If this works out, then I'll submit -test10 to Andrew Morton, and
if he takes it we'll probably have a real 2.6.0 after a final
  shakedown.
