Schwarzenegger along with Kreisel Electric unveiled an all-electric Hummer prototype along the lines of the inauguration of the companys new R&D facility. Kreisel Electric, a small Austria-based startup for converting internal combustion vehicle to electric, earlier this year built a custom all-electric Mercedes G-Class for Schwarzenegger, and he was present again yesterday to unveil the electric Hummer. "Kreisel Electric electrified my G-class last winter. And now a Hummer. If Kreisel keeps it up at this pace, I will soon be able to fly here from LA in an electric airplane," said Arnold Schwarzenegger. The all-electric Hummer H1 is a soft top prototype and is powered by electric motor on each axle. With a capacity of 100kwh batteries, the pair of electric motors produces 360kw (480bhp). The electric Hummer prototype weighs 3,300kg, has a top speed of 120km/h and a range of around 300km. But the not so good news is that Kreisel Electric is not planning to sell the all-electric Hummer. The company says that the prototype is intended to demonstrate the capabilities of its technology. "With our electrified prototypes, we want to show what is possible using Kreisel technology, says Kreisel Electric co-founder Markus Kreisel. We will certainly not mass-produce these models. But our Hummer is a powerhouse in wolfs clothing, one that drives so quietly even the sheep are not disturbed." Kreisels primary business is to produce battery packs for electric vehicles (EVs) and to showcase their technology, they made EV conversions like a VW e-Golf with a 55kWh battery pack and $1 million classic Porsche 910 as well. The gas-guzzling Hummer was discontinued because it was highly pollutant and the electric Hummer could have solved the issue of pollution and many potential buyers could have benefitted. With Kreisel Electric showcasing its potential of converting a polluting vehicle to almost clean and green vehicle, we wish Kreisel changes its decision and starts producing the all-electric Hummer.
