I would really like to put a Leaf drivetrain in a 2000 Honda Insight.  I have 
two Insights and just bought a 2014 Chevy Volt, so I have time to work on my 
'project cars'.  At 1850 lbs, I would think the Insight with a Leaf system 
would be very quick and have considerable range.  Not sure how much work would 
be required on an adapter plate for a Leaf motor to Insight transmission would 
be?  I wonder if anybody has tried this conversion.

I took everything under the hood out of a 2011 Leaf and already sold the
motor (and gave the halfshafts and mounts with it) but I still have the
inverter. I also own (and commute in) a 2011 Leaf.
It is probably possible to capture and reverse-engineer the CAN bus and
other signals to the inverter. I can look at the Service Docs (esp
wiring diagram) to figure out what signals go where.
I see that the inverters sell on Ebay for $700. 

NOTE that the 2013+ Leaf inverter is different from the 2011/2012 model,
since the 2011/2012 have everything in separate boxes: power control
(switching the HV) is in a separate box near the firewall, charger is in
a separate box behind the rear seat and the inverter is in a separate

[EVDL] new stuff

We are selling and making YASA motor shafts. for twin motor set ups. also will 
make a complete twin YASA motor set. The shaft has the same front splines as a 
Parker 170 KW motor. This we use in the delivery trucks we are making in 
California. Parker is also making us a 250 KW AC motor, 600 volts We will be 
the only ones selling it. when we get it is any ones guess ..Its large 18 inch 
in Dia. . There are Photos of the shaft and motor set up on my web site 
ev-blue.com under products 

We will also be doing a very large aircraft push back tractor to all electric. 
for a A380 and C-5A, 747 type aircraft

Tesla Motors announced Wednesday that it has begun mass production of 
energy-saving batteries that it vows will take electric cars mainstream.




"Today at the Gigafactory, Tesla and Panasonic begin mass production of 
lithium-ion battery cells, which will be used in Tesla's energy storage 
products and Model 3," Tesla said on its website.




Mass production of the batteries are a critical step in realizing 
Tesla's ambitions for the Model 3, which is priced at a moderate $35,000 
in the United States, much below the price of its initial models S and X 
electric vehicles.




Tesla has received nearly 400,000 in pre-orders for Model 3.



The "Gigafactory," located in the western state of Nevada, is also 
working on residential energy storage technology that could be used to 
power homes with solar energy.




Tesla said it will ramp up production of batteries for both cars and 
residential products and that it expects capacity at the Nevada facility 
to nearly match that of the rest of the world by 2018.




Tesla and Panasonic expect the Gigafactory to have 6,500 employees at 
peak production and indirectly support 20,000 to 30,000 jobs in the 
surrounding areas.




Shares of Tesla jumped 4.2 percent to $226.17 in midday trade.



On Tuesday, Tesla reported that electric car production last year surged 
64 percent compared to 2015, although it missed its delivery target for 
the final three months of 2016.

If you go with replacement batteries that are significantly lighter than the 
original, keep in mind that the batteries are part of the balance equation that 
determines how much weight can be safely lifted and how high it can be lifted. 
You either need to add ballast to increase the weight or be careful not to use 
the forklift near it's limits.

A friend has a small walk behind forklift that originally used two 12v deep 
cycle batteries about the size of a golf cart battery. Right now, it's running 
on a pair of gel cell batteries from a mobility scooter. We're careful not to 
lift too much weight with it.

Longest trip to date was 103 miles. Just wanted to see if I could break 100 
miles.

Mostly ~ 45 mph, hilly, curvy country roads, with few stops.

(50) CALB 180 Ahr pack.

I get about 70 miles range on my F-250.  Upping to 110 soon.
Lucky you!  I've only gotten 3 Car Show awards so far! :-)
