Re: [EVDL] Radio Noise Issue

2021-10-14 Thread Mike Nickerson via EV
It's possible to get reasonable radio reception on the FM band. I had a
Honda del Sol conversion with an Elcon DC-DC converter that had reasonable
reception on FM. I actually never gave it a thought. Care had been made to
run cables together, but it wasn't an ideal situation. Half the batteries
were in the trunk and half under the hood, with cables running through the
transmission tunnel. Mike -Original Message- From: EV On Behalf Of

Issue Interestingly enough, the noise is coming in on the FM band. I like
Jay's idea of a separate 12v battery and a 2p2t switch - just need to find a
place for the other battery. Thanks for all your suggestions, Nathan

Well the only solution then is to encase the AM radio in Cavorite. Or listen to

You are inside a metal box next to a 100 kW unshielded broadband AM

Many of the early OEM EV's simply didn't have an AM radio at all, for
just this issue.

2021-10-14 Thread Jay Summet via EV
Separate small (motorcycle sized) 12v battery behind a 2p2t switch to
separate both positive & negative lines powering the radio only. Turn
switch on to charge battery from DC2DC, turn off when you want to listen
to the radio. [If the interference really is only coming along the
power lines...]
