We use 16 NEW 48vdc 55ah Volt batteries to power the TORQ replacing the garbage Voltronix Lipo4 batteries and have excellent range and power. Much easier connecting 16 batteries than 64. BMS plug on each battery makes for easy BMS connections. Total weight has been reduced increasing performance.

Only if you keep the Leaf modules intact. Most conversions will need the modules disassembled in order to install modules to specific areas available. Wires to the cells for the BMS will have to be cut and spliced for the BMS connection with HV wires of small gauge running all over the conversion.

I have done many conversions using the Focus, as well as Leaf, Volt and Bosch (13,16,Fiat500e) My favorite is the Volt since the module is 48vdc and a socket for the BMS. Focus is good also as it comes in a 16vdc module. Bosch seems to be the highest quality and comes in 48vdc modules with BMS

Why not buy a Volt 16.5kwh battery and add your own inverter for a backup. That's what my customers are doing. That's what Tesla is selling for a whole lot more. Be careful connecting anything between your solar inverter and the grid, as it is protecting the grid from power during a power failure.
