I’m surprised no-one has suggested a used Tesla model 3. You can get them used
under 40k and it’s battery will last. You can charge fast too. Road trips are a
breeze - I just drove 900 miles in 14.5 hours with 5 charging stops in the
20-35min range

We pay a $100 a year to register our EV, regardless of mileage. I forget the
numbers, but you’d have to drive a substantial amount to equal the gas tax. We
are being penalized, not incentivized.
I think a gas tax would incentivize people. Make it higher and higher, and
I agree. But wouldn’t a gas tax basically accomplish this?
